The PricewaterhouseCoopers (PWC) Scholarship is an annual award given to a student achieving high marks in year one of the BA (Hons) in Accounting course (CAO code WD084).
Although primarily based on academic achievement, it also involves an interview process with PWC, who then award the scholarship based on the combination of both. In recent times, Merit awards have been given to other high achieving students.
The Scholarship has been running for 15 years and many past recipients have gone on to earn a training contract with PWC and to pursue successful careers in the accountancy field.
The awards are presented by Martin Freyne, Managing Partner of PWC at an annual ceremony. The 2013 recipients of the PWC Scholarship were Olivia MacDonald and Niamh Byrne. The Merit award winners were Louise Bolger and Kate Sheridan.
According to Mr. Ger Long, Head of Department for Accounting and Economics, “The scholarship promotes accounting excellence among the students and is part of a long-term partnership with PricewaterhouseCoopers.”
