Morgan Carty, from Foulksmills, Co. Wexford, was recently announced as this year’s winner of the PriceWaterhouseCoopers (PWC) Scholarship at Waterford Institute of Technology (WIT). The scholarship is an annual award given to a high achieving student who has completed year one of the BA (Hons) in Accounting course.
According to Paul Treacy, course leader on the BA (Hons) in Accounting, “While the scholarship is primarily based on academic achievement, the candidates must also engage in an interview process with PWC, who then award the scholarship based on the combination of both.
“The Scholarship has been running for 16 years”, Paul continues, “and many past recipients have gone on to earn a training contract with PWC and to pursue very successful careers in the accountancy field.”
Due to the high standard of student entries, over the last number of years, PWC have also given Merit awards to other high achieving students and this year’s winners of the Merit awards were Anthony Cullen from from Portlaw, Co Waterford, Rebecca Davis from Collins Avenue, Waterford City, and Niall Phelan from Portlaw, Co Waterford.
The 2014 awards were presented by Martin Freyne, Partner of PWC at a ceremony on 6th November in WIT.
