On 19th April 2018 our second year Quantity Surveying undergraduates visited the site of the €230m N25 New Ross Bypass PPP.
The 14km of dual carrigeway, 887m long extrados designed cable stayed bridge (the longest of its type in the world) and 29 roadway structures including ancillary structures including over / underpass bridges and tunnels are being Designed and Constructed by a fully integrated Joint Venture between BAM Civil Ltd and Dragados Ireland Ltd. Our site visit was very kindly accomodated by Mr Des Gilsenan, an Engineer and Liaison officer with BAM Civil who provided the students with a real insight into the design, programming and scheduling of this very complex feat of engineering. For more information on the project visit N25 New Ross Bypass.
