Having “fabulous” lecturers and making some great friends in his class are just some of the things that stood out to Ray when studying in WIT
Ray returned to education as a mature student and is now graduating with his son from WIT. Three of his children have attended WIT and Ray knew from their experience that WIT would suite him perfectly and has even decided to continue on with his studies.
Why did you decide to become a mature student?
“I was talking about it for a long time, I attended WIT a long-long time ago when I was younger and I didn’t finish the course so I decided I’d go back and do it properly this time”
What changes did studying at WIT make to your life?
“Well it’s going to presumably open up opportunities, so we’ll wait and see. It’s expanding knowledge and even listening to the news you’d listen to things and it would make a lot more sense than it would have before”
How does it feel to be graduating with your son?
“I wouldn’t say it happens too often; the fact the two of us are graduating today is great, it’s going to be a great day for both of us”.
What was it like studying in the same college as your son?
“He’s done his four years now and if I wanted some advice on things I could ask him. I’m only 2 years into my studies at the moment so it’s great advice. Its’s always good to be able to ask the kids, it’s a bit of a role reversal when you are asking your kids for college advice but it was good, it worked. “
What is the next step?
“Today is a stepping stone because I am going on to do the degree afterwards, so I am enjoying the day now anyway but it’s only the first one.”
