The DELAROSE project: Developing a pan-European educational programme to support health and social care workers to manage work-related stress.
DELAROSE (Delivering E-Learning Accreditation to Reduce Occupational Stress in Employment) is a Transfer of Innovation Project funded by the European Union. Led by the School of Health Sciences at Waterford Institute of Technology, DELAROSE involves a pan-European programme delivery with The University of Graz in Austria and the University of Applied Sciences and Arts of Southern Switzerland (SUPSI). It builds upon the work of a previous project known as ROSE (Reducing Occupational Stress in Employment) and transitions the suite of psycho-social interventions developed as part of the ROSE project into an accredited educational course for health and social care workers.
This new educational programme is delivered wholly online through the project website (www.delarose-project.eu/moodle) and provides health and social care workers with the opportunity to develop the necessary skills, knowledge and competencies to manage their personal levels of work-related stress and create a less stressful working environment. Successful completion of the course results in the award of a Level 6 Special Purpose Award ‘Certificate in the Management of Work-Related Stress’.
DELAROSE promotes a shared understanding of work-related stress in the health and social sector across Europe and facilitates the transfer of skills and knowledge between educational establishments. The programme is cross-referenced to the European Credit System for Vocational Education and Training (ECVET), enabling learners to acquire academic credits through the ECVET and ECTS credit systems. This will contribute to learner mobility and enable the mutual recognition of qualifications between institutions across Europe.

Three HEIs – WIT, in Ireland, Karl-Franzens Univertsity in Austria and Scuola Universitaria Professionale della Svizzera Italiana in Switzerland each deliver the DELAROSE programme in their respective institutions. WIT delivers the English language version of the programme, while Kar-Franzens University and SUPSI will deliver the programme in German and Italian respectively. The programme is currently being piloted.
