Eurofins Scientific sponsored the awards that honoured the best project presentations from final year-students in the Level 7 BSc in Applied Biology programme
Robert Jeanes, a past pupil of Coláiste Chathail Naofa, Dungarvan, County Waterford is one of 2 in WIT to be awarded a Certificate of Merit in the Level 7 Research Project Awards which took place on 22 May 2019.
The third-year student is studying BSc in Applied Biology (BSc in Molecular Biology and Biopharmaceutical Science).
Robert's project was on “Identification of moth species (Lepidoptera) by use of DNA barcoding”.

'I was participating in presenting my research project to my class and lecturers, who believed that I did a good job in doing so to be recognised for my work. I was happy to see my work achieve some form of recognition and would like to thank Dr Denise O'Meara (my supervisor) for her help in what was a great project to complete'.
The Department of Science at WIT recently held its Industry Sponsored Awards Ceremony 2019 which was sponsored by Eurofins Scientific, Source Bioscience, Environmental Science Association of Ireland, Sanofi, Bausch & Lomb, Sanofi, Dawn Meats, Comeragh Veterinary practice, Dairymaster, AIB and the Society of Irish Foresters.

The awards, kindly sponsored by Source BioScience, honoured the best project presentations from final year-students in the Level 7 BSc in Applied Biology programme. John Calvo from Source BioScience presented the awards. Sam Grace and his project “Random amplified polymorphic DNA profiling of Salmonella species” and Robert Jeanes and “Identification of moth species (Lepidoptera) by use of DNA barcoding” were highly commended.
