Why did you choose to study your course at WIT?
The course was everything I was looking for in terms of learning outcomes. The Ag Science course was recommended by various industry employees and leaders this was a big attraction.
The various modules looked interesting and unique but still giving you vital information to be ready for employment or to take over your home farm and be a competent farm manager. Waterford was also close to home and accommodation was easier to find this was also very useful.
What was your experience?
Each module you study is different and has its own challenges, but each module taught you something new and improved your scientific skills.
The people you meet and who you get to know really well in lectures and labs become your friends and it makes coming to college each day very easy.
Can you recall your feeling when finding out you were offered a place in WIT?
I was excited and delighted to get a place in WIT.
What advice would you give to students considering your course?
I would strongly recommend the course in WIT, as it teaches you various aspects of science but incorporating every angle of agriculture.
The course trains you to think in a scientific way and at the same time be clear about how agriculture works in Ireland and around the globe.
The people you meet on the course and the friends you make on the course will be friends for life. With small lab numbers you work as a group and you drastically improve your ability to work as a team.
For people wanting to study an agricultural based course, this course has everything you want and need incorporated into the 4 years.
Tell us whatever you want that we haven't asked about.
The lecturers are very friendly and they will know your name by the end of a semester. They are very open and easy to engage with.
Living arrangements?
I commuted and lived in Waterford both are viable and both are hassle free.
What is Waterford like as a city for college social life?
Waterford has everything a student needs for nightlife, all the pubs and nightclubs are located close to one another and the atmosphere is always lively every night. Social events happen in Waterford every week and it’s easy to get involved.
