Social Science student and Sports Scholarship recipient Jennifer tells of the benefits of the Sports Scholarship Programme
Third year Social Science student Jennifer was one of those who received a Sports Scholarship at SETU with over 79 students recognised for their contribution in 12 different sports this year at SETU.
The sports scholarship programme at SETU focuses on the development of athletes and offers a number of supports including financial assistance, physiotherapy and grinds, to name just a few.
“Scholarships opened so many doors for me through my student life at SETU. They facilitated my growth as an individual, as a sportsperson and on campus, and their impact is ongoing. Sports Scholarships offer more than the sole financial benefit, the scholarship offers academic support and allows an individual to get on with college life.
By awarding scholarships to students, it allows them to progress to the best of their ability in both their academic and sporting careers and gives them an opportunity to achieve both with the supports provided.”
Jennifer was very successful throughout her sporting career and has Captained the U16 Tipperary team to All Ireland Title and Munster Title, made the minor Munster final with the Tipperary Minor Team and was part of the successful team that won the Ashbourne cup in 2015
Jennifer has many dreams for when she finishes at SETU. “When I graduate from Social Science at SETU this year, I hope to progress to An Garda Siochána in Templemore College. From then on, I hope work with communities throughout Ireland in my career along with keeping up my keen interest in all things sport.”
