Culinary Arts graduate Rosemary remembers her time at WIT for the wide scope modules, the facilities and the supportive and knowledgeable lecturers
"In 2011 I decided to embark on my BA in Culinary Arts at WIT. I had previously completed the Higher Certificate in Professional Cookery at the institute and spent some time working in the industry, I really couldn’t have asked for a better college experience; from the state of the art kitchen facilities provided at the college to the highly knowledgeable chef lecturer team and the attitudes they inspire in their students.
Wide ranging modules
“The course itself was diverse and varied. I had the opportunity to study many exciting modules including, gastronomy, kitchen management, pastry specialisation, a food product development module where each student got to develop their own product from conception right through to the retail market and as part of this we went on a food tour of artisan and farmhouse producers in West Cork, these are just some of the key highlights for me. The subjects I studied for The BA gave me a focused in-depth knowledge and transferable skills that I could use while working in industry and still refer back to, even today.”
“The people I met during my time at WIT influenced and inspired me. Not only did they improve my cooking and technical skills but the support provided by the excellent staff there left me with the judgement and discipline to go on and complete my Masters in Culinary Arts Management from which I graduated last year.”

My advice to any student thinking of starting this degree at WIT would be to “go for it”. Take full advantage of the amazing opportunities that the BA in Culinary Arts at WIT can offer you. The degree has been relevant in all areas of the culinary industry that I've worked in during my career from a pastry chef in the kitchen to product development, lecturing & my current role in sales for La Rousse Foods.
