What attracted you to study at Waterford Institute of Technology?
I liked that it was close to home and it did not seem as daunting as going to bigger cities such as Dublin, Limerick or Cork. WIT has everything you could possible need in a college.
Did you always know this was the course you wanted to do?
Honestly I did not. I wasn't sure what I wanted to do when I was I sitting my leaving cert but because of the broad range of modules that included business I felt it would provide with more options and better understanding of what I might like to do.
What words of advice do you have for new students?
College can be a scary place at first but give yourself a chance to get to know the campus, the facilities and the services the college provides. Make friends with the people in your course but also make friends with people who are living beside you. WIT is small and you will never be stuck for someone to talk to. Enjoy every minute of your time in college and get involved.
What have been the highlights of your college experience?
I enjoyed my five years in college. I have met some incredible people and have made friends for life. I enjoyed the laughs inside the classroom and outside the classroom also. The friendliness and helpfulness of all lectures in DSES whether it be advice on an assignment or a pub recommendation they always had an answer.
What did you like about Waterford as a city to live in/to study in?
Waterford city is easy to get around with plenty of bus routes to and from the city. There is also plenty of good shops, pubs and restaurants to keep you entertained when you are not on campus.
How did the P2P add to your college experience?
P2P is a great way of giving back to the college and does not take up much of your time. It allows for new students to get a real taste of what to expect for the years ahead and it is great fun organising different activities along with weekly check in with your group. This allows for a good bound between the new and existing students
