Second-year business students, in teams were given a business decision-making scenario; with responses assessed by advisory firm Grant Thornton
During March, the Bachelor of Arts in Accounting, year 2 class was delighted to welcome highly regarded business advisory firm Grant Thornton to WIT.
Sasha Kerins (Tax Partner) and Cian O’Brien (Graduate Trainee) from the Newbridge office kindly agreed to judge a case study assignment devised by Cian and based on a US based company, Handy. The students, in teams of four, were provided with a business decision-making scenario and four possible options. The teams were required to present to Sasha and Cian, their evaluations of each potential option, and recommend the best solution for the company. In addition to judging the case study presentations, Grant Thornton generously sponsored prizes for the best team presentation and the best presenter.
Speaking after the event, Sasha and Cian commented on the high standard of the presentations both in terms of content and quality of delivery. Lecturer, Dr Rosemarie Kelly reported that the students had greatly enjoyed and learned from the experience, and were very pleased to have the association with Grant Thornton. She also stated that she hopes, with the agreement of Grant Thornton, to make the case study assignment an annual event.
