Interest in learning about the science of buildings and complex building details as well as making 3D models and construction drawings were a factor for Mikey
Mikey O’Regan is a BSc in Architectural & Building Information Modelling Technology student and past pupil of Ramsgrange Community School in Co Wexford. He is a President’s Scholarship recipient.
I wanted to study this course at WIT because:
In secondary school I did Construction Studies and DCG and was interested in a career in this area. I wanted to study this course as you make 3D models, do construction drawings and look at the science of buildings and complex building details, all of which I had an interest in doing.
My advice for CAO applicants to this course:
Talk to your career guidance teacher and look at the course website to see if a career in architectural technology with advanced skills in Building Information Technology is for you.
My favourite module:
My favourite module is Arch & BIM Technology Studio, as you get to use software such as Revit and Photoshop to create your project.
Why I would recommend studying in Waterford:
This staff and lecturers in WIT make time for each individual student, ensuring they understand the work assigned and help out any way possible.
Sports and societies participation benefited my college experience in the following way:
WIT have loads of clubs, from hurling, football and rugby to kayaking, skydiving and sailing. Having such a range of clubs ensures every student feels welcome and gives you an opportunity to settle in by meeting new people with a similar interest.
