New Undergraduate Work Placement Networking Event gives 2nd and 3rd year students chance to talk to employers about future employment opportunities
The School of Business Work Placement Office hosted its first Undergraduate Work Placement Networking Event for the Bachelor of Business (Hons) and BA (Hons) in Marketing and Digital Media students in March 2016.
This was an exciting event with fantastic companies such as EY, State Street, Datapac and Taxback presenting on the day. Employers and students networked and chatted about their future employment opportunities, curriculum vitae preparation and interview tips. The networking event was a huge success. The feedback from employers was very encouraging for our students. The event will run again next year on a bigger scale.
School of Business students complete a minimum of 15 weeks work placement. This gives students a major opportunity to put their academic knowledge into practice in the "real world of work" and develop new professional and business skills. It also improves students prospects of future employment and helps students decide on their career path.
“At the time I wasn’t quite so sure which specific area, I would best suit in industry. The work placement semester offered me, with absolute clarity, the direction I wanted to pursue a career in. In comparison with my friends in many other universities, the level of support given by WIT’s Work Placement office in sourcing placement is simply unrivalled. WIT sources key industry players to come on site, and interview candidates each year. I was lucky to get offered a permanent international job after this time with Kerry Group PLC,” said Padraig Hayes, past BBS(H) student.
The School of Business Work Placement Office would like to give a big thank you to partner employers for the ongoing support and encouragement they give to our students when they go out on work placement.
