The student seminar has been designed for secondary school students (interested TY, 5th & 6th years) and their teachers, plus third level students
A student seminar is planned as part of the Toys4.0 Engineers Technology & Innovation Expo taking place in early October at the WIT Arena.
This Chambers Ireland Event of the Year which is organised by Waterford Chamber, in association with WIT, will take place on Thursday, 10 October 2019 at WIT Arena, Waterford.
Industry 4.0 is the future
Engineers are rapidly developing and using new ‘toys’ to make the world a better place. This new wave of exciting technologies is often referred to under the heading ‘Industry 4.0’. Current and future Engineers need to develop and use new ‘toys’ to address the many competitive challenges in all sectors including med-tech, pharma, food, energy, infrastructure and construction. The innovative ‘toys’ include Robotics, Additive Manufacturing / 3D Printing, Sustainable Energy, Big Data, Augmented Reality / Virtual Reality, Building Information Modelling (BIM), Drones, Electric Vehicles, Sensors etc.
The 2019 Toys4.0Engineers includes an even bigger Expo (100+ display stands) with cutting edge demonstrations of advanced technologies from leading companies, many of who are members of the recently established ‘Engineering the South East’ cluster.
Showcase of talent
The Toys4Engineers is a hugely important event to showcase the talent and innovation that exists within the engineering, tech and pharma industry on a local, regional and national level. Now in its third year at the WIT Arena, it’s the ideal event for anyone from start-ups to multinationals looking to showcase their product, share ideas, learn the latest innovations in technology, generate sales leads and expand contact bases.
Ken Thomas, Head of the School of Engineering at WIT said: “The student seminar has been designed for secondary school students (interested TY, 5th & 6th years) and their teachers, plus third level students. The objectives of these presentations is to inform and inspire students to become engineers and actively make a better world. They will include a wide variety of disciplines and the many fantastic opportunities for successful engineering careers in the South-East and beyond.”
