Conor highly recommends the Try Sports day to anyone who has an interest in a sport-related course in the future
Conor Coleman, a past pupil of St Augustine's College Dungarvan embarked on the three-year level 7 Bachelor of Business in Recreation & Sport Management in 2019 having discovered it at a Try Sports day. Here he explains why other students should consider signing up for a ‘Try’ event.
“After seeing an advertisement for the Try Sports day I signed up quickly as I knew these days filled up very quickly.
I had a particular interest in sports science but on the day I got to experience the other sports courses that were on offer. It was when going to the recreation management side of things my interest only grew as I did not know such a course existed.
Listening to staff member Patrick Delaney speak about the course with such passion I thought to myself this is the course for me. The activity in which they made us do on the day only added to this giving me a snippet into the course.
I would highly recommend Try Sports day to anyone who has an interest in a sport-related course in the future. Not only does it give you a snippet into what the course is but it allows you to talk to the lecturers first hand and ask any questions you may have.
As well as this the day helped me get settled into college faster as I met some people on the day who ended up in my course as well as having less uncertainty on the day.”
