Elizabeth Reynolds from Waterford was awarded the Irish Continental Group (ICG) prize for the best result in the Lending and Securities module on the BA (Hons) in Finance & Investment course at Waterford Institute of Technology.
Elizabeth, who will graduate this autumn with a first class honours degree, is currently working with Swiss Financial Services in Waterford.
Her prize was awarded for her exam result, which included her assessment of a lending scenario based of the business and financial results of ICG and a prospective ferry route investment.
Tom Corcoran, Company Secretary of ICG Plc, presented the annual company prize to Elizabeth at a ceremony in the SETU Business School. Commenting at the ceremony he said, “I would like to congratulate Elizabeth on her significant achievement. Learning and education is an integral part of professional business life, requiring periodic formal and online programmes”.
Ger Long, Head of Department in Accounting & Economics thanked ICG for their support for the programme, and emphasised the value of links between industry and education for business graduates.
On the same theme, John Maher Finance lecturer on the programme continued, “It is so important for our students to engage with live case studies such as ICG. It improves the learning for the student and it provides untold benefits for the company involved.”
