On Thursday, 7 November 2019 a group of students from year three of the WIT BEng (Hons) in Sustainable Energy Engineering recently made a visit to the Property Registration Authority office in Waterford. The Property Registration Authority is the State organisation responsible for the registration of property transactions in Ireland.
The purpose of the trip was to provide an overview to the students of the services offered by the Land Registry and a hands-on explanation of the Land Direct online service. The visit proved very beneficial to the students who discovered some of the typical issues that can arise around the transfer of land for developing onshore wind farms and hydroelectric schemes.
The visit was organised by Jason O’Riordan (WIT Construction Law lecturer) and Emma Brent (Property Registration Authority Corporate Services Manager in Waterford).
