Registrar of WIT, and Vice President of Academic Affairs Dr Derek O’Byrne has urged people not to stress ahead of the deadline and to avail of supports that will help people choose a course that they will enjoy studying.

“WIT has developed resources such as worksheets and advice for parents and students which can be found on the WIT CAO hub www.wit.ie/CAO. These can be found in two publications WIT has produced – The parent’s guide to college choices and How to research your CAO options,” he says.

In addition he advises people to make sure to use both the Level 8 and the Level 7/6 lists.

“1 July is an important date for anyone applying to the CAO as it marks the final date for adding, removing and changing the order of preference of courses for the CAO on both the Level 8, and Level 7/6 lists. It’s key to make use of both lists, understand the variety of courses that lead them into a role or industry they’re suited to.”

There are 70 CAO courses at WIT including a selection of common entry courses which have been designed to help students choose the right path for them.
