Common entry made Gergo decision on which area of engineering he wanted to specialise in much easier after he was able to get a taste of all areas
Gergo Villanyi is originally from Hungary and is a past pupil of St Augustine’s College, Dungarvan, Co Waterford and is a current WIT student.
I wanted to study BEng Common Entry Engineering at WIT because:
I wanted to study Common Entry Engineering because it gave an insight to multiple engineering disciplines, theoretical and practical sides of all. It gave me a decent understanding of all the different types and made it very easy for me to make my choice of which one I want to specialize in. This course is brilliant for anyone who is indecisive, but know that they want to do engineering of some sort.
Some of the highlights of my college experience at WIT include:
I didn't get many experiences yet at WIT as with COVID-19 my time on campus was very limited, most of the course was delivered online so far. But in that little time I was on campus I enjoyed every minute.
Why I would recommend studying in Waterford/WIT:
For anyone living in County Waterford, I think WIT is the obvious choice as we receive the same education as any other college and we will be just as qualified by the end as anyone else in the same profession.
My advice for anyone considering the BEng Common Entry Engineering course is:
Definitely think about it, keep it on your list, as it is very helpful in deciding which profession you would like to specialize in.
