The European Day of Languages was celebrated recently by the Department of Languages, Tourism and Hospitality at SETU.
Schools from across the South East of Ireland participated in the event, where they enjoyed discussions on ‘the awareness of the development of language and cultural skills’, workshops on Plurilingualism and Culturalism, a Multilingual Treasure Hunt and a Cross Country Quiz for fun.
The European Day of Languages began in 2001, as an initiative of the Council of Europe in Strasbourg, to encourage and promote Europeans learning more languages, at any age, in and out of school as it is believed that linguistic diversity is important for achieving greater intercultural integration.
