IT welcomed its first students from Algeria and Morocco and Tunisia this semester.
WIT welcomed its first students from Algeria and Morocco and Tunisia this semester. The students are funded by the EU Erasmus Mundus, Averroès programe and will spend different lengths of time at the Institute from one semester to eighteen months on Bachelor, Masters, PhD and Post-Doctoral programmes.
WIT is the sole Irish partner in the Averroès consortium which promotes collaboration between top European universities in Belgium, France, Italy and Spain and partner universities in Algeria, Morocco and Tunisia.
Staff exchange also forms part of the programme and the Institute will welcome a staff member from the International office of the University of Sousse, Tunisia to WITs international office later this semester. In all, some eleven Averroès students will study at WIT during this academic year.
Programme coordinator, Dr Maggy Pezéril, University of Montpellier, visited WIT recently to meet students who WIT staff who coordinate the programme and discussions took place about possible ways of developing the collaboration further between the partner universities.
