WIT’s TSSG Group was invited to make a presentation at the annual EU-India Joint ICT Working Group meeting in the European Commission premises
Waterford Institute of Technology’s (WIT) TSSG Group was invited to participate with a presentation at the annual EU-India Joint ICT Working Group meeting held in the European Commission premises in Brussels on 13-14th June, 2016. The overall theme of the EU-India policy dialogue working meetings was “Linking Digital India and the Digital Single Market for Europe”.
Mr. James Clarke, co-ordinator of the EU – INDIA Co-operation Platform in Future Internet and Electronic Media project (short name: EU-INDIA FI-MEDIA project), a project funded by the EU Delegation of the European Union to India in New Delhi, India, was invited to present the status of the project after the first successful year of operation.
The main purpose of the 4 year EU-INDIA FI-MEDIA project is to facilitate the building of cluster to cluster (C2C) partnerships between India and the EU in areas related to Future Internet and Electronic Media, Mr. Clarke presented the successful establishment of two C2C partnerships:
1. Smart Villages Ecosystems, (C2C event held 18 Dec. 2015); and
2. Bringing EU’s FIWARE programme to India, in areas related to Smart cities, including Smart villages, (C2C event held 22nd Jan. 2016).
As presented at the meetings in Brussels, the results of the EU-India FI-MEDIA project were found to be well in synchronisation with both the EU and India priorities, which include topics in relation to Internet of Things (IoT), Smart cities, including Smart Villages, and 5G.
