Sheena found the broadness of her course appealing, she tried everything and finally found that graphic design was what she loved the most
Sheena Kelly from Waterford graduated with BSc (Hons) in Multimedia Applications Development
What was your course like?
Multimedia is a really broad course, it has recently been changed into creative computing in the last year. It was a mixture of programming maths, graphic design and photography. As you go through the years your modules change and you build on the foundations of first year. When I went into my third year we did a more advanced programme with a lot more graphic design. Nothing was too difficult. I wasn’t great at maths in school but I found that I flew through it. I know now that they have changed the system a bit. They do more JavaScript which is a lot better. Now it is really geared towards getting the most out of the course in the easiest way possible. It is really more geared towards what the industry is looking for now. The industry changes so much especially with the advancement of technology.
Favourite module?
I loved graphic design, in level 8 we did a lot of programming for app development mainly in android. You do everything so you get an idea of what you would like to do rather than being stuck in one thing, you get to see what you would like.
Placement?
I did placement in my third year. I was there for about five months I went to a local website design company called ‘Ireland Website Design’. I had great experience there from developing websites to graphic design and a bit of digital marketing.
WIT?
WIT was close for me. For what I wanted to do, SETU had the course. I didn’t have to move away.
