Emanuela is on the path to becoming a forensic accountant
Emanuela Raparelli is a mature student who studied at WWETB - VTOS - Adult Education, New Ross, Co Wexford before starting the BA (Hons) in Accounting at WIT
I wanted to study BA (Hons) in Accounting at WIT because:
I like this field; I have a bit of business experience since I was self-employed in Italy. I started my path in 2018, beginning an online course in Bookkeeping to get a job and improve my financial situation, but I found the study interesting. So I decided to enhance my education through a General Office skills QQI Level 4 course at VTOS New Ross, but it was not enough for me because I became passionate about this field. My results followed my passion, so I decided to improve my education and get a Bachelor in Accounting. Still, to be ready for WIT, I attended the Business Administration QQI Level 5 course at VTOS New Ross.
I am following my passion, and I will not finish with graduation. Indeed, I want to get first a place in one of the most important firms in accounting for this summer stage; then, after graduation, I must take the qualification as chartered accountant but still is not enough. after that, I want to become a forensic accountant, so my path is just at the beginning. But I know that I can achieve my goal. I want to change my and my family's life for good, and I will. Therefore, I made the right course choice because I feel to belong in this field.
Some of the highlights of my college experience at WIT include:
WIT assists students in every possible way to make this experience a life experience. In addition, WIT gives strong support to its students, both from an educational and economic point of view. It is vital that a student does not feel lost or lonely, especially in the first year.
Work placement participation benefited my college experience in the following way:
I started my second year in September, so I need to decide which company I want to go to this summer internship. Following a course at WIT gives many chances to get an excellent place for a future job. The lectures are set out to improve the student knowledge and prepare the students for their future path in the work world. As a mature foreign student, this is very important.
Why I would recommend studying in Waterford/WIT:
I want to recommend WIT for its philosophy: Do not be afraid, ASK! It is significant for both regular or mature; Irish or international students. The lecturers and the staff are so friendly, always are available for clarification or extra tuition class. I think that choice WIT has been the right choice in my life.
My advice for anyone considering this course is:
Be ready to study a lot. Face school day by day, always be prepared and see that the results will come, and you will not even realize.
Emanuela Raparelli received a Merit Awards in the 23rd annual PricewaterhouseCoopers Scholarship, an annual award given to a high achieving student or students who have completed Year One of the BA (Hons) in Accounting programme.
