The Spanish Ambassador to Ireland, Javier Garrigues Flórez, visited WIT on 1 October and met with the Institute’s President, Dr Ruaidhrí Neavyn, Don O’Neill from the International Office and Spanish lecturers Erin McNamara-Cullen, Icíar O’Shea and Andres Romera.
The Ambassador was accompanied by Consul Angel Carrascal Gutierrez, local Consul Penelope Eades-Alvarez and her husband Rafael Alvarez.
Discussions between the Ambassador and the Institute staff focused on developing closer links between WIT and Spain. During his visit, the Ambassador met with students from some of WIT’s ten Spanish partner universities, students from Mexico and Argentina and also with WIT students who have studied in Spain under the EU Erasmus student exchange programme.
WIT currently has over 900 international students from over 70 countries enrolled in all Schools on a wide variety of Bachelor, Masters and Doctoral programmes.
