WIT's Clubs & Societies Finance Council hosted the annual SETU Awards Ceremony in the Dome Bar with over 160 guests attending the celebratory evening.
65 students at the Institute (and one member of staff) were presented with various awards on the evening. The event celebrates the calibre of SETU students and their achievements and efforts over the past year.
The following awards were presented:

AIB Students of the Year Awards were awarded to the following students: John Kehoe from the School of Business, Tadhg Casey from the School of Engineering, Katherine Peacock from the School of Heath Sciences, Kyle O’ Sullivan from the School of Humanities and Morgan Carparelli from the School of Science.

The John Moore Community Award went to Helena Jacob

The Bridget Doolan Memorial Music Awards were won by Cathal Ryan with Mitch Cuss first runner-up and Shaun Walsh second runner-up

24 Community Service "Buddy" & "Volunteer" Awards from the Access Office

WIT Sports Team of the Year Award went to the Senior Camogie Team who achieved their 4th consecutive Ashbourne Cup title on home soil in February 2012

WIT Societies Personality of the Year Award went to Kyle O' Sullivan of the SETU Law Society

WIT Sports Star of the Year Award went to Rohan Date of the SETU Boxing Club
President of the South East Technological University, Dr. Ruaidhrí Neavyn, was in attendance and his kind words of congratulations to students and staff alike on their achievements throughout the year were very received by all of our guests. RTE's south east correspondent, Damien Tiernan, was a genial and very entertaining MC on the night.
The annual Awards Ceremony signals the beginning of the end of another academic year as students prepare for their semester 2 exams. The Clubs & Societies Finance Council would like to extend their thanks to everyone who attended the event and a special word of thanks goes to everyone who helped with the various awards, citations and presentations on the night.

Community Service awards 2012
The Buddies and Volunteers come from all academic disciplines and undertake skills training in order to be able to work effectively with the local Primary and Secondary school children. This skills training gives them opportunities for learning in Team Building, Group Dynamics, Communication Skills along with Time Management, Project Planning and Reflective practice skills. The Buddy and Volunteer programmes are run in collaboration with the Waterford Schools Completion Programme, Genzyme Ireland and local Primary and Secondary schools. We are very pleased to acknowledge their support and to thank them for their on-going commitment to the programmes.
