ArcLabs client companies gathered in the ArcLabs boardroom in WIT's West Campus, for the first in a series of meetings to share knowledge and experience

On Thursday, 28 February ArcLabs client companies gathered in the ArcLabs boardroom in Carriganore for the first in a series of meetings that ArcLabs manager Aisling O’Neill has introduced to give the entrepreneurs the opportunity to meet and share their knowledge and experience.

The ArcLabs Research and Innovation Centre of Waterford Institute of Technology (WIT) opened its doors in 2005 to support entrepreneurship in the South East of Ireland. Since then, over 60 companies have been supported through the centre, including phenomenally successful companies such as Nearform, now based in Tramore, employing 130 staff.

The key to ArcLabs’ success is the ecosystem created there, with leading research groups from WIT situated alongside the businesses which makes for a dynamic environment of knowledge creation and innovation. Furthermore, ArcLabs is home to key enterprise support programmes New Frontiers and the NDRC at Arc Labs accelerator. In 2015, ArcLabs was awarded funding under Enterprise Ireland’s Incubation Centre Expansion call to double the footprint of available space in WIT’s West Campus. This space will be officially opened in the coming months.

In January 2019, Aisling O’Neill commenced as ArcLabs manager and has great ideas for her time in the centre, “Bringing the client companies together regularly to leverage their experience, networking into the best incubation centres not just regionally or nationally but internationally, as well as supporting student entrepreneurship initiatives at both second and third level, are just some of the focus areas for me in ArcLabs” she said.
