A captains performance from Maria Palerino led WIT Vikings ladies basketball team to an impressive win against UCC to set up a semi-final come March

WIT Vikings ladies basketball team travelled to the Mardyke Arena, home of UCC, to play their latest fixture on Wednesday, 29 January. They returned home across the River Lee after recording a well-earned 63-39 victory.

Victory Scholar Maria Palerino played a captains part with a tremendous game high 28 points. Emily Fleming had her best scoring bout of the year with a season high 16 points followed up by sharpshooting Jordan Kervick with 15 points. As well as controlling the game from start to finish point guard Hannah Gorman chipped in with 4 points to finish off the scoring.

The ladies now qualify for the league semi-finals which are to be played in February. A win at home to an impressive Mary I team in their final pool game on 6 February would give the ladies home advantage in their semi-final.
