Four graduates of Recreation & Sports Management at SETU played a part in Carlow Senior Hurling Team's win in Croke Park, including manager Colm Bonnar
There was a strong SETU Recreation & Sports Management alumni involvement with the Carlow Senior Hurling Team at the weekend as Carlow were crowd the first ever champions of the Joe McDonagh Hurling Championship.
Carlow managed by Colm Bonnar (WIT Sports Development Officer) recorded a 2.26 to 1.24 over Westmeath in Croke Park to win promotion to the Leinster championship for 2019.
The success comes on the back of already winning promotion to Allianz hurling league Divsion 1B for next season. His backroom team also consisted of WIT Sport Scholarship Coordinator Alan Malone (Strength & Conditioning Coach), WIT Student Support Administrator Conor Phelan (Hurling Coach) and Timmy Hammersley (Sport Psychologist).
All four are graduates of Recreation & Sports Management while Timmy also holds an MSc in Applied Sport and Exercise Psychology from SETU.
