What attracted you to study at South East Technological University?
Once I finished my previous course I was extremely interested in continuing down the path of sports and sports science. Having looked at various courses I felt SETU offered the most and provided the most potential opportunities for finding a career post-graduation.
Did you always know this was the course you wanted to do?
Once I had seen the information on this course I was more than keen to apply and to do it
Why did you choose the FE progression route into SETU?
I was not sure about what I wanted to do post leaving cert and if I even wanted to go to college, but I had an interest in sport and fitness and my local IT provided me with a course that allowed me to do this and obtain the required qualifications to work in my desired field. However once I was finished I realised I wanted to further expand my knowledge within this field.
What have you done in life prior to studying here?
I have been part of successful sports teams previously. I qualified from my previous course with distinctions.
What words of advice do you have for new students?
My advice would be to settle into a routine as quickly as you can be it by signing up to a gym, joining a team or group. If you are moving from home for the first time understand that adapting can take time but you will settle that’s why having a routine is important. In terms of college I recommend to keep on top of your work do a bit at a time rather than cram it all in the night before. This way you work will be of a higher standard and you won’t have to stress.
What have been the highlights of your college experience?
I have really enjoyed the science side of the courses with modules like FAK, Biomechanics, physiology and exercise physiology etc. meeting new people has been a highlight also
