WIT student and Irish Athlete Phil Healy was interviewed by the Irish Examiner on a turbulent 2019 and an exciting 2020 ahead for the star athlete
WIT Viking Sport Scholarship student and elite Irish Athlete Phil Healy was interviewed recently by The Irish Examiner at the launch of the AIB Future Sparks Festival 2020, an innovative careers festival taking place in March in the RDS.
In the interview, Phil gives great insight into what was a roller coaster 2019. From breaking a bone in her foot, to come back and compete at two World Championships, The World University Games and the World Championships in Doha before the season was out.
Experience at WIT
Phil was also very grateful for the people around her in WIT who have helped her both with her training and her academics. The Irish Examiner reports "WIT have been nothing but supportive in terms of athlete services and tweaking course requirements to suit her schedule and she is part of a high-performance group at the college that is helmed by Shane McCormack".
With 2020 being a huge year for all athletes with the Tokyo Olympics looming in the summer, Phil seems as determined as ever not to focus on one goal too much, and instead, focus on the process which has brought her success in the past.
