Past and present SETU students were recognised at the Camogie All-Stars this weekend and awarded with All-Stars for their contribution to camogie
The Camogie All-Stars were presented at the Citywest Hotel in Dublin on 5 November. Nine past and present students from South East Technological University (WIT) were awarded with a Camogie All-Star on the night.
Marking the 13 year of the Camogie All-Stars, this year saw numerous past and present students of SETU feature prominently amongst the recipients of the prestigious awards.
Those who received an All-Star included current and former students at SETU, Collette Dormer, Miriam Walsh, Ann Dalton, Meighan Farrell, Julie Anne Malone, Michelle Quilty, the captain of the senior Kilkenny camogie team along with Denise Gaule, who was named as Camogie Association/Women’s Gaelic Players Association Senior Players’ Player of the Year.
In addition, Wexford player and WIT’s very own Kate Kelly picked up her All-Star number 9, a marvellous feat having scored 5-49 this year for her county.
This year was considerably standout as the manager of WIT’s camogie team, Ann Downey, was named as Manager of the Year having led the Kilkenny senior team to the All-Ireland back in September this year.
Ciara Quirke also of SETU picked up a Soaring Star award following her hat trick of goals for Carlow in their Premier Junior All-Ireland success last September.
