WIT is proud to announce that we are supporting to the first-ever National Women In Sport initiative in Third Level Colleges and Universities
WIT Vikings Sport are proud to announce that we are supporting the Student Sport Ireland Women in Sport 20X20 campaign. SETU commit to increasing media coverage of our female athletes at all levels as well as increasing female participation at player, coach, referee, volunteer or administration level by at least 20% by 2020.
As a third level member, SETU will benefit from public support and positive PR associated with supporting a drive towards gender equality in sport.
WIT will also have the right to display the 'Member of 20X20' logo on website, social channels and communications. There will also be a strengthened public perception of the importance of sport and women in sport in Irish society and its contribution in terms of the economy and generating social capital.

The 20x20 campaign is aimed at creating a measurable cultural shift in the presentation and perception of Women’s sport in Ireland.

I am delighted that South East Technological University and its Viking sports community has become a member of the student sport Ireland Women in Sport 20X20 campaign. The institute has a proud history of promoting sporting activity among our students and in particular among our female students. Engagement in sporting activity is important not only in the physical but also the mental wellbeing of our students and plays an important role in helping students cope with the stresses of third-level education.
Our state of the art sports facilities in Carriagenore is open to the Waterford public has been a huge success in encouraging children to engage in and enjoy sporting activity at all age levels. We will use our membership of the Ireland Women in Sport 20X20 campaign to increase our efforts to encourage women to engage in the many sporting activities that our sports infrastructure offer.

As the only female sports officer in SETU Vikings Sport, it is so pleasing that SETU Vikings Sport is committed to supporting the advancement and commitment in the #20x20 Women in Sport campaign. As sport continues to grow and develop within South East Technological University, it is very fitting that our community within the College support and promote more female students to participate in sport at SETU.
