Research Strategy
The SETU Waterford Research Strategy has been developed through concerted process of consultation with internal and external stakeholders to develop a vision for the university's future as a creator and disseminator of knowledge through research, and to put together a strategy to realise that vision.
During the development of this blueprint for our future in research and innovation impact, many colleagues, students, supporters, and other stakeholders have been consulted, and we thank them for their engagement, and enthusiasm. In total 35 consultative meetings, both as group consultations and one to one meetings were held. School Heads met consultants on a one to one basis and the group remained engaged during the creation of a Strawman version of the strategy.
Workshop
Our consultants organised a workshop with postgraduate students. All senior officers, members of the Research Advisory Council, members of the Research Support Unit, and leaders of research centres met with the consultants. Consultations were also held with external stakeholders including Enterprise Ireland, IDA and UPMC Whitfield. The strategy supplements and expands on our goals for research in the University Strategy and is mindful of our Technological University trajectory. It recognises the intrinsic connectedness of research and innovation in society. This connectedness calls for an inclusive approach requiring input from all sections of the SETU Waterford community.
Delivery of the goals for research and innovation contained in this strategy will be critical to our journey in becoming a Technological University with our partner, SETU Carlow, and in achieving our joint aspiration to be among the top one hundred young universities in the world within a decade.
Our Research Strategy for 2020-2023 is published below in a browsable online booklet (the square in the centre of the booklet will allow you to view it fullscreen). You can also download the full version of the document or the concise version via the links below.
