Airports:
The nearest Airports to Waterford are in Dublin and Cork. There is very little difference between Dublin to Waterford and Cork to Waterford; however, as Dublin is a much larger Airport it will have many more flights landing each day. Also, public transport between Dublin and Waterford is better than Cork and Waterford.
From Dublin: Waterford City is less than two hours’ drive from Dublin, take the N7/N9 to the West of Dublin City (M50), and follow the M9/N9 motorway
to Waterford. As you approach Waterford City, cross the bridge and turn lef along the South Quay (N25).
From Cork: Waterford City is approximately 1.5 hours’ drive from Cork. When leaving Cork, take the N25 passing Midleton, Youghal Bypass, Dungarvan and Waterford City. When you reach Waterford City, continue on the (N25) and you will come to South Quay and arrive at Waterford Bus station.
If your flight leaves in the morning from the Dublin or Cork Airports, you should plan to leave Waterford the day before and reserve a Hotel room in Dublin or Cork close to the Airport and plan according
Travelling to Waterford by Rail
There are excellent rail connections between Dublin City (Heuston station) and Waterford City (Plunkett station) with eight services daily. Plunkett Train Station in Waterford City is located close to the City Centre and is served by taxis.It takes about an hour with a taxi to arrive at the Heuston Station.There are Taxis right outside the train station and some hotels along the Quay are located walking distance (10 -15 minutes) from the Train station (see map for reference). There are no rail links between Cork and Waterford.
Travelling to Waterford by Bus
Waterford City is served by a number of bus companies from Dublin Aairport that provide frequent connections to other major cities and also serve smaller towns and rural areas.
Waterford City Bus Station is centrally located within walking distance of many hotels and served by taxis and local bus services.
Bus stations are located right outside Dublin Airport Terminal 1. For Bus Eireann go to Zone 11 (Stop 2) and for JJ Kavangh JJ Kavanagh & Sons Bus follow the signs for Zone 12 (Stop 8).

There are no direct buses from Cork Airport to Waterford. However, there is a bus (Bus Eireann) from Cork Airport to Cork Bus Station where you can get a bus to Waterford City.
