SETU Waterford Business Society is the largest society in the Institute whose aim is to provide academic and social events for students in the School of Business, and to act as a point of interaction for these students. Two of the largest events organised throughout the year include “Business & Enterprise Day” & the unforgettable “Biz Ball”.

“Business & Enterprise Day” is a series of high profile public-speakers who share their knowledge and business experience with the students. The event allows students to gain an insight into various business areas & the real business world. Finally, the “Biz Ball” is the largest & most prestigious Societal Ball in the Institute with an annual attendance of 450 students. This is the final gathering of students before they graduate and begin their professional careers.

The Business Society welcomes all new members. Membership can be obtained on Clubs & Societies Day or from the Clubs & Societies office. There are regular event updates on the SETU Waterford Business Society’s Facebook page on ‘Wit BizSoc’ and on Twitter ‘@WITbizsoc’.

The Graduate Business Society offers graduates an invaluable opportunity to broaden their graduate learning and social experiences by organising and participating in important academic and social events throughout the year.

Active membership of the Graduate Business Society provides opportunities for personal development and provides students with an outlet to share life experiences and to contribute both academically and socially to life at college outside of exams and group assignments.

The society is only as good as its members and a good blend of energy and enthusiasm, as experienced this year, can lead to great things. This year sees the hosting of our inaugural technology in business conference entitled “Harnessing Technologies for Strategic Business Advantage”, which after a lot of hard work and organization should be a fantastic event.

Roles available for the society include President, Vice-President, Marketing Officer, Planning and Development Officer and Treasurer. Planning for the Graduate Business Ball usually requires a sub-committee of additional society members to ensure smooth organisation of our most important annual event.

The Graduate Business Society Annual Ball

The Annual Ball is the marquee event for the Graduate Business Society, representing a unique date on the academic calendar for all in the School of Business. This important and popular social event offers a hugely enjoyable night out. The Ball is attended by current and former Graduate Business students, as well as Business Lecturers.

There are also special invited guests from the academic and corporate spheres, including keynote speakers. Graduate Business Student of the Year Awards are presented to those outstanding students on each of the graduate programmes for their academic success, as well as their extended contributions to the School of Business and the Institute overall.
