Term: 

The academic year is divided into two terms of 17 weeks with a midterm week in October and February. The Kids Klub Music is divided into two terms of 15 weeks with a midterm week in October and February.

Fees: 

Payable to SETU Waterford through the Music School Office. Each students relevant fee is issued in August before term commences. The Waterford Credit Union (WCU) offers students & parents of SETU Waterford Music School to pay their tuition fees by availing of a loan facility directly from WCU at highly competitve interest rates. Quote ‘MUSIC’ when making enquiries.

Cancellation of lessons:

 In the event of a teacher being absent due to illness, contact will be made by the teacher to their students.

  • Cancelled lessons by the teacher will be made up at a later date in consulation with the student and subject to room availability.

  • In the event of long-term illness or extended leave by a teacher the music school office will endeavour to make alternative arrangements. All students effected will be notified by letter of such an occurance.

  • Teachers are not obliged to make up lessons cancelled by students at short notice. However, if prior notice is given of a cancellation, teachers will make every effort to make up the lesson at the earliest opportunity within their teaching timetable.

Bank Holidays:

 All Bank Holiday days that occur outside of holiday times will be made-up by the teachers. Students will be offered an alternative day and time by the teacher.

Issues/Concerns relating to your child: 

Any issue relating to your child’s music education that maybe of concern to you can be brought directly to the relevant teacher by arrangement to meet with them. The Music School Co-Ordinator is also available to meet with parents on issues/concerns that parents may have.

Returning Students:

In April all current SETU Waterford Music School students will be requested to complete a form detailing their intention for the next academic year. Failure to return the form may result in the student losing their place with their current teacher.

  • Once the forms have been returned the student can liaise with their teacher to organise times for the next acadmeic year.

  • It can arise that students may wish to transfer to another teacher during an academic year or at the commencement of a new year. It is advised the parents/guardians meet with the co-ordinator to discuss such a transfer beforehand.

New Students: 

  • All interested new students will be requested to complete an application form to attend SETU Waterford Music School.

  • Applicants may be called for audition.

  • The Choral Programme hold auditions for the next academic year. Further details regarding choral programme auditions are available from the Music School Office.

  • The SETU Waterford Orchestra recommends a minimum standard of Grade V.

  • Places are offered in August, depending on availability and the current waiting list. Failure to respond to an offer will result in your childs name being put on the waiting list.

Waiting List:

  • Students who are currently on the waiting list are listed in order of application. These students are offered places first in the enrolment for new students for the next academic year.
