Jobs Stimulus | Human Capital Initiative | Springboard
This page brings together all of the funded courses that will start in January at WIT and includes:
- summary infomation on Eligibility for each scheme - while the schemes are similar there are small but important differences in eligibility.
- information of How to Apply to each scheme including links to Apply Online for courses that are open for applications.
The courses are funded under four national initiatives:
- the well-established 'Springboard+' initiative designed to help people upskill and re-skill to meet the skills needs of the economy.
- an new extension of Springboard funded under the 'Human Capital Initiative - Pillar 1' with these courses offered through the Springboard website.
- the new 'Jobs Stimulus - Postgraduate Provision' initiative - announced by Minister Harris in July 2020 as part of Ireland's response to the pandemic which offers funded, full-time Masters degrees.
- the new 'Jobs Stimulus - Modular Provision' initiative - announced by Minister Harris in July 2020 as part of Ireland's response to the pandemic which offers funded shorter courses.

Jobs Stimulus - Postgraduate Provision
Eligible for Funded Places: Returners / Employed / Previously Self-Employed / Recent Graduates*
Not Eligible: Unemployed
Eligible Applicants must be ordinarily resident in Ireland and must meet the nationality and EU residency rules as aligned to Springboard as detailed here https://springboardcourses.ie/faq
* 'Recent Graduates' - unlike Springboard people who have graduated from a full-time level 8 degree (but who are not collecting unemployemnt benefit) are eligible to apply.
No Fees Apply: Returners are fully funded - i.e. they pay no course fee to do the course#
Fees Apply: Employed / Previously Self-Employed / Recent Graduates pay 10% of the overall course fee# - the amount directly payable by the student is set out below.
# PAC Fee: All applicants who are made a confirmed offer of a funded-place will need to register online through the national PAC system - a €50 fee is payable to PAC to complete that process.
Note: Learners can only be registered on one publicly funded higher education course whether that be Springboard+, HCI Pillar 1 or Jobs Stimulus Postgraduate or Modular courses. Learners are not permitted to be registered on two courses in the one academic year. In the case of modular courses applicants can register on multiple modular courses as long as they don't exceed 30 credits.
Academic Eligibility: Eligible participants must have at least a level 8 qualification or equivalent prior to acceptance onto a course. Please see the specific Entry Requirements for each course on each course page linked below.
English Language Competency: Applicants whose first language is not English must submit documentary evidence of competency in English. Please see Click Here for WIT’s English Language Requirements.
Delivery model: Courses are generally delivered using online synchronous classes with further learning support via WIT’s virtual learning environment.
Note on Personal Data: Personal data may be shared with the Higher Education Authority, for example to determine eligibility for funding or for statistical purposes. Eligible: Unemployed / Returners / Employed / Previously Self-Employed
Eligibility and other requirements in respect of modular skills courses will align with Springboard+ eligibility criteria. No Fees Apply:
- Unemployed / PUP / Returners are fully funded - they pay no fee to do the course.
- Level 6 courses fully funded for all eligible candidates

Academic Eligibility: Please see specific information in the 'Entry Requirements' section of the application form. Typically:
- Level 6 courses require Leaving Cert or equivalent;
- level 7 courses require a major award at level 6;
- Level 8 Certs in Project Mgmt and Mgmt Development require a level 8 degree;
- level 9 courses require a level 8 degree in a cognate area.
