- SETU Youth Choir - the Youth Choir are currently preparing for a Trip to Prague in March, they will be performing in both competitive and concert events during the trip.
- SETU Junior Youth Choir - the Junior Youth Choir are preparing for the Limerick Choral Festival Competition - 4th March.
- Feis Maitiu, Cork - Best wishes to students travelling to Cork over the next couple of weeks to the Feis Maitiu.
- Arklow Music Festival - Best wishes to students travelling to the Arklow Music Festival at the start of March.
- Christmas Festival Online Competition - Congratulations to Junior Youth Choir member Rajiv Das who was Highly Commended in the recent Christmas Online Festival - Rajiv submitted a recording of 'O Holy Night' for the competition.
- National Youth Orchestra of Ireland - Congratulations to Nataliya O'Neill (violin), Sophie Kirby (cello) and Adam Mernin (trumpet) who were successful in recent auditions for the National Youth Orchestra of Ireland. There will be an opportunity to hear the NYOI perform once again in Waterford, thanks to SCOW in July.
- Irish Youth Wind Ensemble - applications are now open for the IYWE for wind players aged 16-25 with a minimum Grade 6 standard. Closing Date for applications is 10th March - the online application link is on our Facebook page.
- Jazz Workshop - Many thanks to Phill Collins for facilitating a 'Blues' workshop for the TY class from Newtown Secondary School on Tuesday - it was an engaging and interactive session for the students.
- Schools Choral Day - we have had a huge response to our Schools Choral Day which is being held on Friday 3rd March in the Chapel - it promises to be a great day of singing! Members of the choral programme staff will be visiting the schools in advance of the day to work with the choirs as well as hosting a session for teachers in the Waterford Teachers Centre.
- Jazz Guitar Concert - Jazz and Guitar students might be interested in attending Joseph Leighton and his Trio on Friday 3rd February in Garter Lane - 8pm, tickets are €15/€12.50 concession.
- Lily's Labyrinth - our friends in the Limerick School of Music are performing Lily's Labyrinth on Saturday 4th February - composed by Marian Ingoldsby - Many of you will have fond memories of the times the Music School performed the Children's Opera!
We are still actively recruiting for our Orchestral Ensembles - if you know of students who might not yet be participating in one of our Orchestral Ensembles or there are students, adults outside the music school who would be interested do please pass the word around. The Choral Programme would still have some vacancies for Boys within the choirs.
It's shaping up to be a busy Term 2! Looking forward to Performance Week being back in the calendar. All of the students will be emailed the Information Letter about PW, this will be especially relevant to new students who have joined us since our last Perfordmance Week in 2020!
