  1. The BSc in Quantity Surveying in South East Technological University is an internationally recognised Honours Degree programme.
     
  2. It boasts a 100% Graduate Employment record for each of the last 8 academic years placing our graduates amongst the most highly sought after in the industry.
     
  3. It has full course accreditation from the Society of Chartered Surveyors Ireland permitting direct entrance to the assessment of professional competence and presenting a distinct advantage to undergraduates at SETU Waterford over other regional Institutes of Technology in Ireland.
     
  4. It provides 30 weeks paid work placement in year three of the programme. Students can choose to work locally or to travel abroad for these weeks if they so wish, in 2017 we have placed students in New York and Dubai as part of the programme.

Here at SETU Waterford we facilitate 30 weeks paid work placement for our students in top tier local and internationally based Contracting and Professional Quantity Surveying firms including:

The relationships forged and experience gained by undergraduates during these 30 weeks of placement give our undergraduates a real competitive advantage when they join the workplace in terms of course learning outcome, ability to work abroad and ability to command a competitive salary.

A graduate of the Quantity Surveying course at SETU Waterford can expect a career as a highly valued and integral member of the Design Team on construction projects of all sectors and values both nationally and internationally.

Our graduates have helped to shape and inform the budgets of clients the world over on projects ranging from circa €200K to over €1bn and are currently engaged in the delivery of projects such as:

  • The new National Childrens Hospital (largest single healthcare project in Ireland in 2016),

  • The €140m new Central Bank of Ireland building,

  • The €240m Spencer dock project (largest single office development in Ireland in 2016)

aswell as internationally renowned projects at the cusp of emerging design and cost management practice such as

  • The World Trade Centre in New York,

  • The Halley Research Station in the Antarctic,

  • The Shard in London and the Rio Olympics to name but a few.

A Quantity Surveyor is one of the most rewarding professions in the Construction Industry and commands a salary amongst the highest paid in the sector aswell as affording almost limitless opportunity for travel and diversification within the role using its key values of cost management, contractual knowledge, negotiation skills and ability to communicate, all of which are an integral part of the course we offer at WIT.
