Increasing demands on health care services and changes in health care delivery through, for example, new health care technologies, have extended the range of opportunities for rapid professional development. The Department of Nursing and Health Care at Waterford Institute of Technology are a key provider of nursing and health education and research.
The Department provides undergraduate BSc (honours) programmes that prepare students for registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland in general, psychiatric and intellectual disability nursing, as well as providing the innovative BSc in Applied Health Care.
We also have a strong postgraduate programme focus to meet the needs of a wide range of healthcare professionals seeking continuing professional development. We offer taught work based post graduate programmes in a range of nursing specialities along with a range of courses in therapies including basic cognitive therapy, psychosocial interventions, cognitive therapy and motivational interviewing, and also management programmes.
