Land Sciences Careers Day 2018 synopsis
The WIT Land Science Careers Day was held in the WIT Arena on Friday, 9 March 2018 and proved to be a huge success. In total, 45 companies that specialize in Agriculture, Agri Food Processing, Horticulture and Forestry attended the day. The feedback on the event was exceptionally positive, the WIT students' enthusiastic engagement exceeded the expectations of the companies. Students and companies have made valuable connections and a number of students have already been called for interviews for positions a few days after the event took place.
Talks took place in a number of parallel sessions, and speakers on the day were from a range of different companies. Many of the companies who attended also contributed to the event through much appreciated sponsorship. A very important element of the day was the commemoration of 40 years between WIT and Teagasc collaboration in education provision. The director of Teagasc, Prof Gerry Boyle, gave the keynote address on the day, and in his speech he spoke about the fruitful and positive relationship that has existed for 40 years between the two organisations.
