Welcome to the Department of Land Sciences.
We are one of the largest providers of Land Science education in the Republic of Ireland with an excellent record of providing up-to-date and relevant programmes of study in the disciplines of Agriculture, Agricultural Science, Food Science, Forestry and Horticulture.
The development and delivery of our Land Science programmes is carried out in conjunction with our external partners, which includes Teagasc and a variety of stakeholders from the Agri-Food, Forestry and Horticulture industries.
Delivery of our programmes incorporates a blend of lectures, laboratory sessions, land based fieldwork and trips, work placements and international study with a focus on the development of entrepreneurial and innovation skills.
These programmes lead to opportunities and careers in regional, national and international industries with many graduates going on to do further studies, or research. Others return to home farms and industries where they have the knowledge and skills to meet and address the current and future challenges facing the sector.
We also offer opportunities to study MSc programmes in Organic Agriculture on a part-time basis, and also offer level 9 and level 10 qualifications by research. We offer numerous short flexible learning options designed to allow upskilling in key areas.
The Department of Land Sciences offers an inclusive and friendly environment where lecturers and staff are on hand to support students in a variety of ways.
